what happens if i apply brown dye over blue/teal hair?

i tried dying my hair teal and didnt really like the outcome
would it be okay to apply brown hair dye to cover it??

Dying color over color isn't usually a good idea, especially when unnatural colors are thrown into the mix. You might be told to go to a salon, but don't bother. You can do it home for WAY cheaper and home kits are less damaging. You should go to a drugstore and look for dye stripper. It's a little hard to notice but most regular drugstores carry it. Also pick up some of whatever color brown you want your hair to go back to.

Now for the tricky part! If you have blue sections rather than your whole head, whether it's chunks or a certain layer, you'll need to protect the rest of your hair from the dye stripper. The best way to do this is to use salon-quality hair foils, that can be picked up from stores like Sally Beauty Supply. If you don't have any on hand, use Saran wrap. Don't use regular aluminum foil!!!! Metals can wreak havoc on hair dye/stripper formulas. You can also use plastic clips to keep non-blue sections away too. Remember, don't use metal!!! Make sure you only apply the dye stripper to the blue areas and follow the box directions.

Afterwards, wash it out and wait a couple days. Home color kits work best on unwashed hair because oils on your scalp protect it from being burned by the color. Once your hair is ready for another washing, do the brown color. I recommend doing your whole head but if you feel up to sectioning off the old blue areas again, that's fine too.
